Parents/Guardians
We would like to share some information about the Gear Up for Graduation Program housed at Moore Middle School.
*Students do not have to currently attend Moore Middle School.
The Gear Up for Graduation Program is designed for students who attend any Gwinnett County middle school
and have successfully met the promotion requirements for 7th grade. This unique opportunity allows eligible
students to accelerate their academic progress and align more closely with peers in their age group.
Students may benefit from this program for various reasons, including a delayed start to kindergarten due to a later
birthday or having been retained at some point during their academic journey. Upon successful completion of the
program, students may earn Carnegie Units (high school credits) that can enable them to enter their zoned high
school as a 10th-grade student the following school year.
The Gear Up for Graduation Program offers a rigorous and engaging curriculum designed to prepare students for
future academic success. Participants will enroll in the following courses:
• Georgia Studies
• Physical Science
• 9th Grade Literature
• Enhanced 8th Grade Mathematics with Algebra Concepts
• Introduction to Healthcare Science
• Health and Physical Education
Through these courses, students have the opportunity to earn up to five Carnegie Units before entering high
school. For reference, students must earn 23 Carnegie Units to meet Georgia's high school graduation
requirements.
