Lana Saccomanno is the orchestra and guitar teacher at Moore Middle School.  She has been at Moore since the school first opened its doors in 2011.

Ms. Saccomanno started playing the violin at the age of 9 in her school orchestra.  Since then, she has played all through junior high, high school and college.  Ms. Saccomanno was the concertmistress of her high school orchestra for 3 of the 4 years when she was a student at John Lewis High School in Fairfax County, Virginia.  During her time in high school, Ms. Saccomanno was a member of the Northern Virginia Junior Regional Orchestra, 2 time member of the Northern Virginia Senior Regional Orchestra, and 2 time member of the Virginia All-State Orchestra.  Outside of high school orchestra, Ms. Saccomanno was a member of a string quartet offering services for Christmas and retirement parties, played with the Youth Orchestras of Prince Williams (Youth Symphony Orchestra) and the summer after her sophomore year, traveled with American Music Abroad where the orchestra spent two weeks visiting countries such as Italy, France, Hungary, and Switzerland performing pieces by American composers.

Ms. Saccomanno earned her Bachelor of Music degree and performance certificate from the University of South Carolina.  During her time at USC, Ms. Saccomanno was a member of the USC Symphony, USC Chamber Orchestra, and USC Opera Orchestra. Ms. Saccomanno was also a free-lance musician performing with quartets and other Christmas services.  Ms. Saccomanno was also a sub for the Florence Symphony and Long Bay Symphony. Ms. Saccomanno began her music education at the USC String Project.  The String Project offered music lessons (private and group) to members of the community. Ms. Saccomanno completed her student teacher with Mrs. Johanna Pollock and Ms. Melissa Martin and graduated Magna cum laude in 2003. Ms. Saccomanno also earned her Master of Music degree from Boston University in 2010 and her Educational Specialist in Teacher Leadership from Walden University in 2014.

Ms. Saccomanno began teaching in 2003 with Fulton County Schools.  She later moved to Gwinnett County in 2004 and has taught at Sweetwater Middle School, Five Forks Middle School and Richards Middle School.  Orchestras under the direction of Ms. Saccomanno have received Superior and Excellent ratings from Large Groups Performance Evaluation each year.

Ms. Saccomanno was part of the Teachers as Leaders class of 2024 and is the 2027 Teacher of the Year for Moore Middle School.
